Qasid Arabic Institute (Jordan)

Students enjoy sunset in JordanOver the years we have developed a special friendship with the faculty and leadership of the Summer Intensive Arabic Program in Qasid, and have been sending groups of students to the program since 2011. Students who study intermediate Arabic at the intensive summer program return prepared for our advanced Arab studies content courses.

The program offers Modern Standard Arabic in two four-week sessions. Classes meet five hours per day, five days per week. Each session therefore includes 100 hours of instruction in Modern Standard Arabic and colloquial Arabic.

Amman, founded in 7000 B.C., the capital and largest city in Jordan, is situated in a rolling area of northwest Jordan, just 25 miles from the Dead Sea.

Today Amman is a prospering modern metropolis and serves as a hub within the Middle East for commerce and trade.  With a tradition of welcoming refugees and immigrants from nearby countries, Amman is a multicultural and multidenominational city and one of the most liberal and westernized cities in the region.

The School in the Middle East: Jordan (login required) is based at the University of Jordan, Jordan's oldest public four-year institution of higher education, established in 1962. With a strong emphasis on research, and a rich background in liberal arts, the University of Jordan is an excellent host for students of all academic backgrounds.

Alexandria, known as the Pearl of the Mediterranean, is Egypt's second largest city and its largest seaport. The School in the Middle East (login required) is based at Alexandria University, Egypt's second largest university.

Alexandria is a popular travel destination for Egyptians, writers, and foreigners alike. In a city where ancient monuments and footsteps of Greeks and Romans give way to modern splendor, Alexandria has a rich cultural diversity all its own. With a strong emphasis on research, and a rich background in liberal arts, Alexandria University is an excellent host for students of all academic backgrounds.
