Vereen Bell Awards/Tony Earley

Tony Earley, whom The New Yorker calls one of America’s best novelists, will deliver a reading and distribute prizes to the winners of the Vereen Bell Memorial Writing contest. Known for his fiction about growing up in the South in the 1970s, Earley’s short stories have appeared in Harper’s, The New Yorker, Esquire, and The Oxford-American. The New York Times called his novel, The Blue Star one of 2008’s best books. His other fiction--Here We Are in Paradise (1984), Jim the Boy (2000), and Mr. Tall (2014)—are highly acclaimed.
