Film and Media

The department offers introductory and advanced courses in film and media studies.  Courses that concentrate on aesthetic, thematic, and theoretical analysis (110, 292, 293, 393, 420) often include a production component;  493 is specifically devoted to production and designed to help students make a film they can send to film schools that require it as a part of the admission process.

Our alumni have gone on to a variety of careers, including screenwriting (Shutter Island, King Ralph), filmmaking  (Homeroom),  cinematography (Deep Impact), producing (Butter), and teaching.  Additional information about the film and media at Davidson is available on our Film and Media Studies interdisciplinary minor pages.
