For something that has not happened (not yet anyway), the end of the world has formed a source of enduring historical fascination and controversy in western Christian culture. In this year’s Kelly Lecture Professor Brett Whalen will discuss the importance of the apocalypse for medieval politics and society, but also the persistence of apocalyptic thinking right up into the present-day world.
