Shirley proudly hails from the great state of New Jersey. However, after going through her umpteenth "coldest" winter, she decided she was ready for a change of scenery (mostly weather). Shirley graduated from Davidson in 2012 with a degree in history. While in college, Shirley studied abroad in Rome and participated in and held various positions in Alternative Breaks, Black Student Coalition, and Dinner at Davidson. She worked as a resident adviser her sophomore year and a senior admission fellow in her final year. Also, she joined the Sigma Psi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and served as financial secretary and membership intake chair. After graduation, Shirley did admission work at a small college in Louisiana and now she is excited to be back at her Alma Mater.
The 3rd Floor of the Union. It's the heart of campus and I have so many memories of sharing meals outside of the Café, pulling all-nighters in front of the couches near the fireplace, and interacting with great people from all over campus.
Davidson students come from such diverse backgrounds and have so much to offer inside and outside of the classroom. I love that I can start out having a conversation with someone about a popular TV show (ie. "Scandal" or "Teen Wolf") or something random and have it organically evolve into a discussion on politics or social injustices. People don't try to be intellectual or engaging; they just are!
