To receive the Patricia Cornwell Creative Writing Scholarship, you must demonstrate exceptional ability and promise in writing.
The award was established by Patricia Cornwell, Class of 1979, author of twenty-two novels which have been translated into 22 languages and are consistently on best-seller lists.
This award is $10,000 annually, and is offered to one student in alternate first-year classes. The scholarship is renewable as long as you maintain the required grade point average, make expected progress toward your degree, and remain engaged in the writing community.
In addition to the application for admission and scholarship application, students must submit a letter on the role of writing in their lives and up to 10 pages of their best creative work in the genre(s) of their choice.
This application and the required additional materials should reach our Office of Admission and Financial Aid no later than the application deadline for your chosen admission plan (Early Decision 1 – Nov. 15; Early Decision II or Regular Decision – Jan. 2). Please note that you must be an applicant for admission to Davidson College before you can submit your application for this award.
