The Senior Overnight is available to all current high school seniors who are interested in a more in-depth Davidson community experience. An overnight visit can help connect you with current students, as well as give you the opportunity to explore campus outside of a traditional tour.
You will be hosted by a current Davidson student, most likely in their first or second year at Davidson. You can attend a concert or lecture, cheer on Davidson at an athletic event, enjoy a meal in Vail Commons, or sit-in on a student organization meeting.
It is important to have a plan before you arrive in Davidson of what you are interested in doing—your host may have a meeting to attend or homework to complete during the evening and may not be able to give you their undivided attention. Be sure to visit our Campus Calendar to find out what events are happening during your stay.
We recommend you bring the following items with you:
If you are flying, we encourage you to bring a travel-size pillow and blanket. Davidson has a limited number of sleeping bags available that you may reserve in advance.
Request a Senior Overnight Visit using our Overnight Registration Calendar (available later in August). The deadline to register is seven days in advance of the overnight date.
Please be advised that dates will fill up; advanced registration is required. To schedule an overnight in conjunction with our Day @ Davidson or Discover Davidson programs, you will be given the opportunity to request an Overnight Visit through the event registration form. If you need assistance, please contact our visit coordinator at 704-894-2679.
Overnight visits will be available on select days throughout September, October, and November. The fall overnight schedule is as follows:
Upon registering for a Senior Overnight Visit, you will receive a confirmation email with a link to a Parent/Guardian Release form. This form must be completed prior to your arrival to campus.
You will also receive information about where and when to meet your host, guidelines for visitors, and suggested items to pack. Students are responsible for arranging their own travel to and from campus.
To take full advantage of your time, arrive at the Office of Admission at 4:30 p.m. Upon arrival you will be greeted by a member of the Overnight Visit Team and receive a temporary guest CatCard for dorm access, as well as additional details about your visit.
Although your visit officially concludes at 8 a.m. Friday morning, we encourage you to plan to spend extra time on campus. You might observe a class, explore Davidson, or attend a tour and information session (advance registration recommended).
A great way to get a true sense of student life is to experience a Davidson class. From late September through early April, faculty have opened some of their classes for prospective students (open only to high school juniors and seniors) to observe. Please email Michele Trovato at email@example.com and provide the date of your visit, several disciplines that pique your interest and time frame for class observation (morning or afternoon).
Overnight visits are a great way to discover what makes Davidson so special, and we hope you are able to take advantage of this opportunity.
