Public Dissonance CIS Seminar: Alice Echols, USC

Davidson College welcomes Barbara Streisand Professor of Contemporary Gender Studies at the University of Southern California Alice Echols to lead a seminar at the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies on her recent book Hot Stuff: Disco and the Remaking of American Culture.

A free lunch will be provided for seminar participants (students and faculty are welcome–please email Ross Fenimore to secure a space. Event limited to 12 participants). 

"Public Dissonance" is hosted by the Music Department with support from the PLC, Williamson Trust, Gender and Sexuality Studies, the Writing Program and the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies. The series examines the discursive function of music in the public sphere and the contribution of reading musical conventions as cultural forms that shape our knowledge of the history of sexual minorities.
