Public Dissonance CIS Seminar: Pennington, Tufts

Davidson College welcomes Stephan Pennington, assistant professor of music at Tufts University, to lead a seminar at the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies on the transgenered voice and the vocal performance of gender and sexuality (work forthcoming with Oxford UP).

A free lunch will be provided for seminar participants (students and faculty are welcome–please email Ross Fenimore to secure a space. Event limited to 12 participants).

"Public Dissonance" is hosted by the Music Department with support from the PLC, Williamson Trust, Gender and Sexuality Studies, the Writing Program and the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies. The series examines the discursive function of music in the public sphere and the contribution of reading musical conventions as cultural forms that shape our knowledge of the history of sexual minorities.
