The Davidson College Art Galleries, with support from Multicultural Affairs, hosts a screening of the documentary Ai Weiwei: Never Sorry on Thursday, Feb. 13 from 6:30–8:30 p.m. in Semans Auditorium in the Visual Art Center. The event will conclude with a post-film discussion with Professors Fuji Lozada and Maggie McCarthy.
The screening is in conjunction with State of Emergency on view in the Van Every Gallery and an installation of Ai Weiwei's work on view in the Smith Gallery, both on view Thursday, Jan. 16 through Friday, Feb. 28. Ai Weiwei’s installation, Namelist, and audio recording, Remembrance, are dedicated to the young people who lost their lives in the 2008 Sichuan earthquake. Together, the works honor the 5,196 innocent victims who died as a result of collapsed schools.
