Davidson College welcomes the Eight Southeast German Studies (SEGS) Consortium's Workshop to campus. The SEGS Consortium is an organization established in 2007 to foster scholarly exchange among faculty and students in the southeastern United States interested in the history, society and cultures of German-speaking Central Europe. Seeing the ongoing need of a forum for scholarly exchange among German Studies professors and students in the region, the SEGS Consortium brings together more than 50 historians, cultural studies, literature and language scholars from Texas to Washington, D.C. for its annual workshops.
The core of each of the workshops lies in three panel sessions. Each session is organized around one of the workshop’s three main themes. The Eight SEGS Workshop, the second and final one to be held at Davidson College, focuses on Black German Studies and the intersections of German Cultural and African Diaspora Studies. The public is kindly invited to attend the presentations and discussions.
