My Makhzen and Me: Documentary Screening

"My Makhzen and Me" is a 2012 documentary directed, produced and shot by Nadir Bouhmouch, a (then) Moroccan college student studying in the U.S. In the summer of 2011, the uprisings in Tunisia and Egypt spread to Morocco and people took to the streets, organized by a group of students called the Feb 20 movement.

"Makhzen" refers to the ruling elite in Morroco, who refuse to release their grasp on power. This film explores the motivations driving the Feb 20 movement and the obstacles it encounters. The film runs for 45 minutes. Snacks are provided.
