In this lecture on early childhood policy, Takiema Bunche-Smith will highlight the ways in which educational theory, policy and practice intersect, interact, and at times, conflict.
Bunche-Smith has worked for over two decades in support of children and families in New York City. She began her career as an elementary teacher and now serves aspresident of Anahsa, LLC, specializing in early education program design, implementation, leadership development, coaching and policy analysis. She is also the associate executive director for early childhood programs at University Settlement, where she oversees and supports the implementation of 11 high quality programs serving prenatal mothers through four year olds.
Bunche-Smith is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College, and holds three Master’s degrees (Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Bank Street College of Education, Urban Education from the City University of New York’s Graduate Center, and Public Administration from the Wagner School for Public Service, New York University).
