J.M.P. Otts Endowed Lecture presents “Health and the Prosperity Gospel” by Kate Bowler, Ph.D., professor of the history of Christianity in North America, Duke Divinity School.
Bowler is the author of three books, including Blessed: A History of the American Prosperity Gospel (Oxford 2013), and Everything Happens for a Reason (and Other Lies I’ve Loved) (Random House 2018). In her New York Times op-ed, she writes about being unexpectedly diagnosed with Stage IV cancer at age 35 and the irony of being an expert in health, wealth and happiness while being ill. The lecture is free and open to the public.
