DC Venture Lab Benefits

A major strength of DC Venture Lab is the student and Packard Place community. Teams are expected to learn as much from one another as they do from the DC Venture Lab staff and mentors. DC Venture Lab is also affiliated with ImpactU, an accelerator program for college students based in Packard Place and directed by Queen City Forward. Venture Lab Students will co-locate with ImpactU students and participate in common educational workshops and experiences.

Mentors and local entrepreneurs are available over the summer to help student entrepreneurs learn and succeed.

We prepare student teams to insert themselves into the local and national Davidson entrepreneurial ecosystem, which includes investors, entrepreneurs, accountants, and lawyers.

Students will participate in entrepreneurship education, covering various topics that relate to startups. Entrepreneurs come to share their stories and lessons learned.

Student teams receive grants of $2,000 - $6,000. In addition, student teams are connected to grant programs across campus, the city, and the state.

Student teams gain 24-hour access to a shared facility at Packard Place where they have Wi-Fi, unlimited coffee, conference rooms, plenty of white boards.

Practice Pitch Days

Students participate in regular pitch days, where they pitch their ventures to a variety of local entrepreneurs and community members.
