Rahael Borchers '15 and Professor of Political Science Russell Crandall co-authored the article "Getting Past Pinochet" for The American Interest magazine. The authors note, "This Sunday will be Chile's first election with a voluntary vote and at least 75 percent of voters are expected to go to the polls." The two candidates are daughters of opposing generals during the tumultuous rule of General Augusto Pinochet. Borchers, a Belk Scholar who currently is studying in Chile, will witness first-hand the outcome of this dramatic election.
