by Davidson College

Michael DorcasProfessor of Biology Michael Dorcas's 20-year study of diamondback terrapins in salt marshes near Charleston, S.C., led to his testimony on behalf of environmentalists who are filing suit to prevent construction of a housing development in the ecologically sensitive area.

A feature story in The Post and Courier examined the controversy.

“I testified that it would be detrimental and potentially (could) completely block the ability of terrapins to nest there,” he said in the story.
