Design & Creative Services

The design team manages Davidson's visual identity and maintains design standards for print; offering creative direction, visual design and print buying for both informational and marketing materials for recruiting, events, fundraising, programs and college initiatives. The design team is available for consultation and advice on just about every aspect of print and design. Digital Communications

Digital communications encompasses the Web, blogging, social media, and videography. The digital team assists the college in developing and managing its online presence. The team manages the college website, ensures that institutional standards are adhered to in both words and images, and assists with digital communications strategy, including Web, social media, and news videography. Editing, Proofreading, & Copywriting Services

The college editor is primarily responsible for the research, writing and editing of college publications such as the Davidson Journal. The editor is available to consult with clients on concepts and strategies, and, on a limited basis, to write and edit a range of communications.

In general, Davidson College follows the style guidelines set forth in the Associated Press Stylebook and Merriam-Webster Dictionary. For style questions not specifically addressed in the Style Guide, consult one of the references above.

News & Media Relations

The news and media relations team works to promote Davidson's brand image and reputation both on and off campus, and also seeks to increase community engagement with the college by encouraging participation in events and activities.

Advancement Communications

Advancement Communications works closely with the offices with the College Relations division that focus on fundraising and stewardship to raise awareness of and encourage support for college priorities and programs among Davidson alumni, parents, and friends. The Advancement Communications team writes persuasive and inspiring stories about gifts, donors, and fundraising campaigns and produces print and digital publications that convey the effect that donors have on Davidson and its students. This office is also responsible for broad-reaching video projects that highlight the institution’s top marketing, branding, and fundraising initiatives.

Photography Services

The office provides photography services primarily to support its publications, media relations, and digital communication efforts, but also accepts photo assignment requests from other campus departments when possible. The office maintains a photo archive website of Davidson stock images that can be viewed and requested by visiting the site and registering for a password and log in.
