Application & Tuition

Application Process

You are encouraged to apply as early as possible. The application, your 300 word essay as well as the recommendations from your high school principal and counselor are due, (emailed, faxed or postmarked) by March 31, 2016. Secondary school counselors must include an official high school transcript as well as a high school profile sheet with your recommendation form.

Two Application Methods

1. Online Application

Students, including international students, are encouraged to use this system. You must complete the online application in its entirety and submit it in one online session. Upon submission of the online application, there will be a link for access to the recommendation forms for high school principals and counselors. The forms should be printed and given to the appropriate secondary school individuals for completion. These forms should be mailed to July Experience, Box 7151, Davidson, N.C. 28035, faxed to 704-894-2881 or emailed to julyexp@davidson.edu by Thursday, March 31, 2016.

2. Paper Application (PDF)

Please print the application, complete it, and mail it to July Experience, Box 7151, Davidson, N.C. 28035. Also, print the principal recommendation form and the counselor recommendation form and give them to the appropriate secondary school individuals for completion. These forms should be mailed to July Experience, Box 7151, Davidson, N.C. 28035, faxed to 704-894-2881 or emailed to julyexp@davidson.edu by Thursday, March 31, 2016.

Applications are not considered complete until the July Experience Office receives the following items:

  • Completed online application or paper application
  • Submission of your 300 word essay (your response to: why do you wish to participate in this particular program and what you have done and are doing to prepare yourself for the future)
  • Completed recommendation form from your high school principal
  • Completed recommendation form from your high school counselor with official high school transcript as well as a high school profile sheet attached

Tuition

The total cost of the 2016 July Experience is $4,000. Tuition covers the following areas:

  • Room and board
  • Cost of textbook(s)
  • U.S. National Whitewater Center or Carowinds Amusement Park activity fees

Tuition does not include travel expenses and personal spending money.

Deposits & Refunds

  • A non-refundable deposit of $500 is due within two weeks of your notification of acceptance
  • The balance of the fee is due/postmarked by Friday, May 27, 2016
  • There is no refund for withdrawal from the program after May 27, 2016, or for early departure from the program
