Environmental Health & Safety

Environmental Health and Safety is responsible for the health and well-being of the faculty, staff, students and visitors, as well as the environment in which they work. The office works with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies including the Town of Davidson, the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA), and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on issues that affect the college and our community.

Davidson College operates a comprehensive health and safety program, which includes but is not limited to inspections, training, hazard mitigation, blood-borne pathogens, building fire safety, environment issues, hazardous materials, and hazardous waste.

We make the college a safe work and learning environment and ensure regulatory compliance by implementing programs and services in the following major areas.

  • Education and training
  • Personal protective equipment
  • Hazardous waste and materials management
  • Health and safety inspection
  • Regulatory compliance
  • Accident, incident, and exposure investigations
  • Exposure prevention/indoor air quality
  • Safety standard and procedures
  • Chemical hygiene plan

For detailed instructions on any of the above, visit our forms and policies page. Through policies, procedures, and training we provide the college community with a healthy and safe working environment, as well as additional awareness and training in support of the environment.
