Background

I have my Ph.D. in Russian linguistics and a specialist in Russian second language pedagogy. I am a doctor of philology (Ph.D.), with a focus in the formal semantics of the Russian language and in the principles of teaching Russian as a second language and the author of the dissertation “Formal Semantic Organization and Functioning of Elliptical Sentences” (based on the material of modern Russian Literature). Also, I am a certified tester of Russian state testing system for Russian as a second language and American testing system (OPI).

I have worked in the field of teaching Russian as a second language since 1988. I have had the unique experience of teaching Russian to students from different countries, including Holland, the United States, Great Britain, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, Middle Eastern countries, and most European countries. I have a lot of experience teaching Russian to American students. I was a visiting professor in Russian and taught at the University of Maryland (2004), at the State University of Groningen (2009-2012) and Leiden University (2015-2016, 2021) Netherlands, University of Magdeburg (2016-2021) (Germany), and at the Hallym University in the South Korea (2007-2009). I am trained to teach students from elementary through advanced and superior, and I regularly teach all levels and create new study materials.

I am an author of textbooks V mire novostei part1, 2, 3 (In the World of News), I have good feedback about this book. Many universities used my student’s books as basic textbooks for teaching language of mass-media.

I love sports including tennis, swimming, yoga and walking in nature. I also like to read, embroider, watch movies and listen to music. I enjoy spending time with my family, colleagues, friends and students.
