Background

After graduating with a B.S. in Social Sciences Teaching, I embarked on a fulfilling journey as a high school educator, teaching AP Psychology, Psychology, History, and Geography. I also designed and taught a course for high school teachers pursuing their psychology teaching certificates. These experiences deepened my interest in optimizing student learning, leading me toward a career in instructional design.

Currently, I am an instructional designer with nearly a decade of experience at Lumen Learning, backed by a M.Ed in Learning Science and Technology from UNC Charlotte. I specialize in developing curriculum, content, and assessments for social sciences courses, with a particular focus on psychology. My work includes creating courses in Introductory Psychology, Lifespan Development, and Abnormal Psychology. My professional interests are centered around learning science, open educational resources, and making education accessible for all learners. I am particularly fascinated by the intersection of research and classroom practice.

Outside of teaching and instructional design, I enjoy spending time outdoors, playing and coaching sports (especially soccer), watching Davidson basketball games (where my husband Justin works as an Athletic Trainer), attending musicals, and supporting our three children in their various activities.
