Educational Partnerships
Focusing on access and success in K12 education, the center offers immersive summer programs, academic year tutoring opportunities and educational opportunities.
Brenda H. Tapia CDF Freedom Schools® program was developed by the Children's Defense Fund (CDF) and provides summer enrichment experiences for students in kindergarten through eighth grade. The program fosters a love of reading, increased self-esteem, and positive attitudes toward learning.
Federal Community Service Work-Study- The center works with leaders at local nonprofit organizations to establish responsibilities for work-study positions. Students who are eligible for work-study are placed at these organizations by the center and gain useful experience while forming valuable relationships. In addition to their weekly schedule, students meet monthly as a group on campus, covering a variety of skill-building topics and community building.
