Experience Davidson's values of community, responsibility and service while getting to know fellow students before starting classes.
Financial aid is available to students who qualify. In addition, a travel stipend is available for Sessions I and II.
Within Outdoor Odyssey, we have two different types of programs:
The Backcountry Odyssey includes backpacking, canoeing, climbing and service. Upper class trip leaders teach basic skills to you and your crew of incoming Davidson students, as you work together to build relationships and share significant and challenging experiences.
The Basecamp Odyssey is less physically demanding than Backcountry Odyssey while still offering plenty of challenge and adventure with your classmates, such as day hikes, games, stand up paddleboarding, raft trips, introductory rock climbing and group initiatives. Each night you and your crew will return to your tents in the same campground with access to bathroom and shower facilities.
The Service Odyssey is an immersive service experience that reflects and enriches Davidson's commitment to develop the spirit of service within each student. The program is designed to build relationships among participants, increase social awareness and challenge individuals to work constructively within a group.
