Mission and Values
A Davidson education fosters humane instincts and disciplined and creative minds. Students flourish in our distinctively supportive community, where peers and mentors act with integrity and embrace academic rigor. We strive to create an environment where students are anchored by relationships and experiences—connections that cultivate curiosity, empathy and intellectual bravery.
Davidson is grounded in the Honor Code and our tight-knit community. We are driven by our statement of purpose: to assist students in developing humane instincts and disciplined and creative minds for lives of leadership and service.
We proudly stand as one of only two dozen schools in the United States that admit students independent of their family’s ability to pay, meet 100 percent of calculated need, and do so without loans in their aid package.
Davidson’s honor code helps build the core of students' relationships with professors and peers and instills a moral courage that lives in them long after graduation.
Through a centralized experiential learning hub, students have access to enriching opportunities including internships, education away, community-based learning and undergraduate research.
Davidson College understands that cultivating a broadly diverse community is crucial to our educational mission and to our foundational commitment to the dignity and worth of every person. That environment helps prepare our students for the world they step into after graduation.
