Interdisciplinary Minor


The interdisciplinary minor requires six courses: literary criticism, a second theory course, three literature courses, and the capstone seminar. One course may count for both a major and the interdisciplinary minor.

  • ENG 391 Literary Criticism [Other courses may be substituted with the permission of the minor coordinator if this course is not offered during an academic year.]
  • A second theory course from the following list: ANT 341 Globalization, GSS 201 Feminist and Queer Theories, LIT 360 Literary Theory, REL 301 Perspectives in the Study of Religion, PHI 216 Philosophy of Language, SOC 372 Feminist Theories, or THE 383 Contemporary Performance [Substitutions possible with the permission of the minor coordinator.]
  • Three literature courses at the 200-level or above, at least one of which must be in a second language [not in translation]
  • LIT 432 Theory and Practice of Literary Translation
    (prerequisite: one literature course in a second language [not in translation] beyond the 201 level; juniors and seniors only; offered every spring)
