Inside Higher Ed: Are MOOCs Working for Us?

Chambers BuildingIn the first post of a four-part series on MOOC research at Davidson, Director of Instructional Technology Kristen Eshleman addresses the rationale of our research design. While the two leading goals for MOOC institutions are economically focused and measured through quantitative data generated within the platform, Eshleman believes that the generally less popular goals focused on residential learning could be the most beneficial to college campuses. As a result, the Instructional Technology team is conducting mixed method research on two MOOC-infused residential courses during the fall semester of 2014 to learn how to optimize the way knowledge is processed in digital environments.
