Dobson-Neely Latin Scholarship
The Dobson-Neely Latin Scholarship is offered to students who demonstrate exceptional talent and a passion for Latin.
Davidson offers this $8,000 scholarship to one student in each entering class in recognition of that student's significant experience and demonstrated success in Latin; interest in Latin as a field of study; and outstanding general academic accomplishment. This award is renewable for each of the recipient's remaining three years at Davidson, providing GPA, progress toward degree, and Latin study (one course per academic year) requirements are met.
Recipients are not required to major in Classical Languages and Literature nor minor in Latin.
Application Process
You must first be an applicant to Davidson College in order to submit your Dobson-Neely Latin Scholarship Application.
In addition to your application for admission, you must submit your scholarship application, including your statement of interest in the award. Your Latin instructor must also submit a letter of recommendation to scholarships@davidson.edu.
Deadlines
Applications for the Dobson-Neely Latin Scholarship are due by January 10, 2024.

Davidson offers a major in Classical Languages and Literature (Greek and Latin) and a major in Classical Studies (pursued mostly through courses taught in English, including some offered by the departments of philosophy, political science, and religion). Students can also complete a minor in Greek, Latin, or Classical Studies.
