David Dennis Jr. ’08 Highlights Nipsey Hussle’s Legacy on ‘PBS Newshour’

On Monday, April 1, David Dennis Jr. '08 appeared on "PBS Newshour" to discuss the legacy of Nipsey Hussle, a rapper and activist, who was shot and killed in Los Angeles on Sunday.

"He was the dream of a black celebrity who was able to transcend the environment and neighborhood he was raised in," Dennis said.

Dennis, an English major with a minor in ethnic studies, is senior culture editor for NewsOne and a regular contributor to ESPN's The Undefeated and The Atlantic. He also teaches journalism at Morehouse College.

In another Davidson connection, Dennis was a classmate and friend of Steph Curry, who included Hussle in an episode of "5 Minutes From Home," a casual interview series hosted by Curry. The two discuss fatherhood and music on their way to get dumplings after a Golden State Warriors game.
