The Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) major gives students a broad range of analytical tools for the evaluation of public institutions and social structures together with their histories and conceptual foundations.

From courts to markets and voting to wages, students will explore a wide range of normative, empirical, social, and historical considerations to achieve a nuanced understanding of social and political questions and their competing solutions.

PPE at Davidson aims to equip students to understand, assess, and—importantly—challenge social and political institutions from a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary perspective. Students who major in PPE will discover how our political and economic structures support or impede liberty, fairness, and equity no less than how they relate to tradeoffs, externalities, and supply and demand.
