Translation and Publishing in Russia

Natalie Shahova is a Moscow-based translator and translation agency manager. In this talk, given in English and for which no knowledge of Russian is required, she will briefly compare the translation practices of the USA vs. Russia and then discuss four of her most challenging projects: translations of Lynne Truss’s Eats, Shoots and Leaves (included on the short list of the Unicorn and Lion award for the best Russian translation of British literature), Bill Gates’ Business @ The Speed Of Thought, Linus Torvald’s Just for Fun and Sylvia Nasar’s Grand Pursuit.
