Event Detail

Oxfam Hunger Banquet

The Oxfam Hunger Banquet is a dinner co-sponsored by Dean Rusk Global Corps, Amnesty International, and Food Club, as the last event in conjunction with the Bank of America Lecture Series about the Millennium Development Goals. On this day we encourage people to fast, and then they can attend the dinner if they have purchased the $1 ticket before or at the event.

The purpose of the hunger banquet is to raise awareness about the differences between people's access to food. Luck of the draw will determine what each person eats, how they eat, and with whom they eat. Each attendee will be assigned an identity to determine these distinctions. After the dinner, discussion, and speaker, a whole meal will be provided for those who did not get enough to eat.
