Center for Interdisciplinary Studies

The Center for Interdisciplinary Studies (CIS) provides opportunities for students and faculty to explore topics that cross traditional disciplinary boundaries.

The CIS provides a route for students to complete a major that is not offered by an academic department or program. See the CIS Major Application Guidelines section for details.

The CIS hosts regular Monday lunches at which students writing interdisciplinary senior theses present their work-in-progress to CIS majors and advisers, followed by Q-and-A. These lunches are open to all other interested faculty as well.

Again in 2013-2014, the CIS is hosting the ampersand-and-ellipsis series of afternoon panels. Prof. Zoran Kuzmanovich (English) is organizing this year's series, "Fragrance & ...", with three sessions of short talks followed by discussion. Open to all students and faculty.
