Cultivating Social Landscapes: Early Farmers of the Mid-South

Kandace D. Hollenbach, Ph.D., assistant professor and head of Subsistence Unit, Archaeological Research Laboratory at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville will present a discussion entitled “Cultivating Social Landscapes: Early Farmers of the MidSouth.” Her talk will focus on the domestication of native cultigens around 4,000-5,000 years ago in the Eastern US, women’s role in the process, and the effects of the shift to food production on people’s relationships with the landscape and each other.

This lecture is free and open to the public.  No ticket required.
