Lecture: Reclaiming Mary Magdalene
With Beth Mackza, New Testament Scholar
Supported by the Chaplains’ Office, Religious Studies Department, St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, and Davidson College Presbyterian Church
Beth Maczka, a Davidson College and Vanderbilt Divinity School graduate, centers her studies around questions about Mary Magdalene and why she is absent from much of art and liturgy. She highlights the lack of images depicting this profound passage in Mark and the need to commission art that depicts women in positions of authority, as noted in the Gospels.
