Pengliang Lu - Recasting the Past Public Lecture

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is presenting a Chinese art exhibition, Recasting the Past: The Art of Chinese Bronzes, 1100-1900, from February 28 to September 28, 2025. The exhibition will feature bronzes, among other art media, from a wide array of international loans and explore issues including antiquarianism, memory, and design. It is a great pleasure for the Art Department to bring the mastermind behind this blockbuster exhibition, Pengliang Lu, the Brooke Russell Astor Curator of Chinese Art at the Met, to the Davidson campus to share his work and expertise with the students, faculty, and the broader Davidson community.

This lecture is made possible by the generous contributions from the Art History area through Friends of the Arts/DACE funding, the BACCA Foundation Visiting Scholar and Artist Program, the History Department, the Matthews Center for Career and Development, Chinese Studies, and East Asian Studies.
