Political Science Professor Susan Roberts can finally catch her breath. With North Carolina in the headlines for a special election and a controversial budget, Roberts’s phone has been ringing off the hook.

In just the past week, Roberts was quoted in USA Today, The Christian Science Monitor, the Voice of America, Politifact and the Raleigh News & Observer.

This is nothing new for Roberts, an experienced public intellectual. But over the past couple of years, with the country looking to North Carolina as a bellwether for the 2020 presidential election, her location and obvious expertise have made her a go-to source for journalists.

And with the Republican National Convention scheduled for late August 2020, just 22 miles down the interstate in Charlotte, Roberts will be in demand again.
