The Charlotte Observer profiled an exhibition of August Rodin’s sculpture that is now on view in the college’s Van Every Gallery.

“August Rodin: Truth Form Life” brings 22 works by Rodin to campus. The exhibition showcases the evolution of the master sculptor’s work—moving from classical sculpture to his signature rough, energetic style.

The exhibition has a special connection to the college. A Rodin sculpture, “Jean d’Aire Nude,” has stood proudly in the atrium of the Katherine and Tom Belk Visual Arts Center since 1993. Two pieces in the exhibition connect directly to “Jean d’Aire Nude.” A monumental head and maquette show how the sculpture progressed in its production.

The exhibition is on view through April 5.
