Wildcats go all in for Davidson College all year long, but one day each spring, we make it official and write it in hashtag form. We also pie campus celebrities in the face.
The 12th annual #AllinforDavidson raised $1,226,128 from 2,936 donors. The day was filled with philanthropy and fun, on campus, across social media and at four regional and co-working events.
“Thank you to the alums, families, faculty and staff members, students and friends who chose to go all in with us yesterday,” said Morgan Bell Kee ’12, director of The Fund for Davidson. “Our team looks forward to this celebratory day each year – it gives us the opportunity to come together as a community and make a difference for our incredible students and programs. It’s pretty amazing what can happen in just one day. Thank you for making #AllinforDavidson a success!”
The original 2,000 donor goal was surpassed by 5 p.m., unlocking a $500,000 challenge from a group of anonymous donors. The energy only grew from there, with gifts pouring in from all 50 states and five countries. The classes of 1990 and 2002 closed out the day on top of the participation leaderboard.
On campus, the Alvarez College Union was the place to go all in. Trivia, cornhole, a cappella performances and free coffee were just some of the attractions. A gift of any size to Davidson earned students a chance to pie a faculty or staff member in front of a crowd. Students were also encouraged to catch a ride in a golf-cart-turned-cash-cab on the way to class while learning all about the campus-wide impact of philanthropy.
New this year, the Office of Alumni & Family Engagement hosted four in-person events in Charlotte, Davidson, New York City and Washington, DC. Co-working days took place at the Jay Hurt Hub for Innovation & Entrepreneurship and in New York City, and evening socials were held in Charlotte and Washington, DC. Charlotte participants took to the courts at Rally Pickleball, co-owned by Davidson alum Barrett Worthington ’09.
“Davidson’s giving day gets more exciting with each passing year,” said National Fund for Davidson Chairs Mark Cody ’01 and Rebecca Harris Cody ’01. “We are inspired by the enthusiasm from everyone on campus and the generosity of each and every donor across the country and around the world. There’s always something special about knowing you’re supporting Davidson, but doing it alongside so many other ’Cats, all in the span of 24 hours, is extra rewarding. We are grateful to be a part of this extraordinary community.”
Over the last 12 years, the #AllinforDavidson one-day giving challenge has raised more than $13 million for the people and programs of Davidson College. See you back here next April for our lucky 13th year!
