Education

  • M.A. Virginia Commonwealth University
  • B.A. Davidson College

Background

In 2012, I returned to Davidson College as Registrar. My role is to support students, faculty, staff, alumni, and parents throughout the entire college experience. The Registrar's Office oversees course registration and the catalog, maintains and protects academic records, certifies students for continued enrollment and graduation, coordinates the exam center, works closely on special events, and supports academic advising and course planning.

I enjoy the variety of tasks involved with my position and the chance to interact with so many different members of the Davidson College community. I work with departments and programs on the creation of the class schedule and assigning classrooms. I evaluate transfer work for credit, which includes pre-matriculation and study abroad courses. There are several committees I am a part of, including the Educational Policy Committee, the Curriculum Requirements Committee, and the Advising Committee, which work on academic initiatives throughout the year. I conduct trainings on The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and run reports for various offices on campus. In addition, I serve as a holistic academic adviser.

After graduating from Davidson College with a major in History, but prior to returning as Registrar, I taught high school history, worked in the library at the Virginia Historical Society, served in the Registrar's Office and Evening Degree Program at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, Ga., and held the position of Registrar at Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Ga.
