Background

I teach courses in microeconomic theory, natural resources and environmental economics, and environmental social science. I am an applied microeconomist with scholarly interests in the field of environment, natural resources, energy transition, and sustainability. My research examines how people make choices, how inequality exacerbates through lack of access to basic goods and services when their livelihoods and well-being are affected by mineral extraction and processing policies, environmental pollution, and transition to cleaner energy sources.

I obtained a B.A. in Economics from American University in Bulgaria and a M.P.A in International Development from Tsinghua University in China. I then worked for the Government of Mongolia and various international organizations such as the United Nations Development Program and the Asian Development Bank before receiving my Ph.D. from Massey University in New Zealand. I previously taught at Massey University and the University of Denver.
