Chorale Performs National Anthem at Golden State NBA Game

January 12, 2017

Steph Curry greeted the 35 student vocalists of the Davidson Chorale before their performance of the National Anthem at Thursday's Golden State Warriors game. The chorale, under the direction of Chris Gilliam and accompanist David Gilliland, capped off their winter break tour of Southern California in Oakland's Oracle Arena thanks to Curry, who helped arrange their last stop. Check out Davidson College on Facebook and @DavidsonCollege on Twitter for photos and video of the performance.

Curry will travel to Charlotte for the Warriors v. Hornets contest later this month, and plans include a stop on campus.

With last night's performance, the choral concluded their tour of the West Coast, which included concerts in San Diego, Santa Monica and Sherman Oaks.

Two other Davidson ensembles are heading home after their traditional travel/performance trips.

About 60 classical and jazz instrumentalists under the direction of Milner Professor Bill Lawing and Associate Professor Tara Keith toured the mid-Atlantic during the winter break.

Their itinerary included performances Jan. 10 at the renowned "Blues Alley" nightclub in Georgetown, Washington, D.C. The occasion doubled as an alumni gathering, with alumni invited to join current students for part of the show.

Other performance locations included St. Anne's-Belfield School in Charlottesville, Va., Yorktown High School in Arlington, Va., and the Sanford School in Hockessin, Del. Students will have a free day to enjoy the sights of New York City before arriving back on campus Jan. 14.
