Diego Luis Joins Humanities Program, History and Latin American Studies Departments

April 2, 2020

In fall 2020, Diego Luis will join the Humanities Program faculty, as well as the History and Latin American Studies Departments. Luis was most recently at Brown University where he earned a Ph.D. in History.

His research interests include early-modern trans-Pacific connections, with a focus on the movement of free and enslaved Asians from the Spanish Philippines to New Spain during the 16th and 17th centuries.

“Professor Luis will bring new aspects of Asian American studies to Davidson," says Dana Professor of German Studies and Director of Humanities Scott Denham, "both in the Humanities Program and in his own courses. We’re very excited to welcome him to Davidson.”
