On-Campus Support
If you are experiencing stress or need help, please connect with the following resources:
- Dean of Students Office:
Student support, including possible emergency funding and additional resources, email deanofstudents@davidson.edu. - Counseling Services for Students:
The Counseling services staff recognize that one's normal coping capacity can often be overwhelmed by natural and human-generated disasters associated with the destruction and loss of loved ones and irreplaceable belongings. Disasters also tend to stress emotional, cognitive, behavioral, physiological, and religious/spiritual beliefs. Within our Davidson community, you may or have loved ones who are personally impacted by Hurricane Helene. Our Counseling staff holds expertise in trauma-informed approaches to resilience, disaster response and recovery, developmental and wellness techniques, and a humanistic connection to students' lived experiences. You can make an appointment on the Counseling Services webpage. - Religious & Spiritual Life:

Relief Organizations
Relief organizations, such as FEMA, recommend that individuals interested in helping with disaster relief work through existing organizations. A financial contribution to reputable relief organizations is one of the most effective ways to support relief efforts. If you prefer to make a donation, be sure to visit Charity Navigator, Charity Watch, Give Well, and the Better Business Bureau to help assess an organization’s effectiveness in managing donated funds. The following organizations are on the ground in multiple locations and seeking donations.
- World Central Kitchen
- Presbyterian Disaster Assistance
- BeLoved Asheville
- American Red Cross
- Salvation Army
- United Way of North Carolina
- Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina
