Education Abroad

A deep cultural understanding and knowledge of the social, economic, political, and scientific forces that shape our world are integral components of a liberal arts education and necessary for effective leadership on local, national, and international levels.

Our students embrace education abroad—three-quarters of the student body travel abroad for research, service, work or internship opportunities.

Davidson administers multiple study abroad programs in China, England, France, Ghana, Peru, Spain and Zambia. Additionally, more than 100 academic programs are operated by partner program around the world.

Through these and other study abroad programs, film and media studies minors, as well as students from other disciplines, have the opportunity to study abroad. In recent years some have studied at the Film and TV School at the Academy of Performing Arts (FAMU) in Prague, the fifth oldest film school in the world. FMS minor Sam Lastres ‘17, who studied there in the fall of 2015, made a film called Remembering Abroad about Davidson students on exchange programs, which includes her experiences. In addition, Yeonjae Han '19 made the film Sublimity, which documents the experiences and memories of international students at Davidson.

Visit the Office of Education Abroad for information about opportunities for work, service and research abroad.
