Personal Statement

"I chose Davidson for my college education for several reasons: As the graduate of a private boarding school, I was attracted to the small class sizes, the opportunity to develop working relationships with actual teaching professors, and the opportunity to create life-long friendships. Just as importantly, as with my prep school, I saw an opportunity to be a pioneer in Davidson’s path towards integration. I did not know that I would also find a life long passion for my alma mater, and a desire to support its ongoing growth and evolution to the dynamic, modern institution that it has become.

Those two motivating goals have been key to my Davidson experience post graduation. As I have participated in alumni activities, served on various College Boards, and worked towards Davidson becoming a 21st Century leader in the liberal arts, the common thread is relationships. As a passionate supporter of the liberal arts education, I want to continue to serve Davidson as a place that nurtures individuality, fosters free thinking and expression, and is ready to face the challenges ahead."
