Alumni Trustee Elections

Two candidates are running for one available position on the board. The candidate with the most votes will serve as an Alumni Trustee, starting January 2025. The other candidate will be invited to join the Board of Visitors.

Alumni Trustees serve a four-year term and are eligible for consideration for a second term by the nominating committee of the Board of Trustees. This year, the nominating committee and the Alumni Board approved the renewal for Janet Stovall '85, who is running unopposed.

What is the Davidson College Board of Trustees?

Davidson College is governed by the Board of Trustees, composed of between 30 and 45 members. Four members are elected by and from the alumni; five members serve ex officio, including the president of the college; and the remainder are elected by the Trustees. At least 25 percent of members will be a member or affiliate of a Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) congregation.

Alumni Trustees are elected by alumni to serve a term of four years. Alumni Trustees are eligible to be nominated by the Association Board of Directors to serve a second term and may run unopposed on the ballot.

What does a member of the Board of Trustees do?

A member of the Board of Trustees plays a vital role in the governance and strategic direction of Davidson College. Trustees are responsible for overseeing the college's overall mission, financial health, and policies. They work collaboratively with college leadership to set long-term goals, ensure accountability, and uphold the values and traditions of Davidson. Trustees also contribute their expertise and networks to support fundraising efforts, advocate for the college in various capacities, and help to foster a vibrant community of scholars, students, and alumni. Ultimately, trustees are dedicated stewards who help shape the future of Davidson College and ensure its continued excellence.
