Alumni Leadership
While Davidson College is governed by a Board of Trustees, several working boards exist to guide and support the work of the college. Board openings are filled through a nomination process. To learn more, contact the staff members listed below.
The Alumni Association Board of Directors serves as a liaison between alumni and the college’s administration and staff to provide input on alumni activities and programs. The Board of Directors considers policies and advises the Office of Alumni and Family Engagement on programming and practices.
The Art Collection Advisory Committee (ACAC) promotes the appreciation and study of visual art through the college's permanent collection for the benefit of Davidson's students, faculty, staff, alumni, community, and visitors. Members also work with the college to identify opportunities for potential acquisitions.

Davidson College is governed by the Board of Trustees, composed of between 30 and 45 members. Four members are elected by and from the alumni; five members serve ex officio, including the president of the college; and the balance are elected by the Trustees. At least 25 percent of members will be a member or affiliate of a Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) congregation.
Alumni Trustees are elected by alumni to serve a term of four years. Alumni Trustees are eligible to be nominated by the Association Board of Directors to serve a second term and may run unopposed on the ballot. You may nominate an alumna/alumnus for Alumni Trustee using our online recommendation form.
If you have questions, contact Daniel Swift.
The Board of Visitors provides guidance in the pursuit of the college’s mission, advising the chair of the Board of Trustees, the president of the college, and other college officials. Board members are nominated by alumni, friends, and staff of the college. New members are selected by a nominating committee.
Visitors meet once per year on campus and are asked to serve as ambassadors for Davidson in their communities.

For more than 29 years, the Davidson Arts and Creative Engagement advisory board, formerly known as the Davidson College Friends of the Arts Advisory Board, has had a growing and positive influence on the arts in our region. During this time, members’ contributions have improved the quality of exhibitions, arts programs and performances at Davidson College, benefiting our students, faculty and staff, as well as many friends in the surrounding areas.
