Types of Financial Aid

At Davidson College, 100 percent of calculated financial need is met entirely through grants and student employment. Additionally, there are several other resources families may use to help pay their share of college costs. Explore the different types of aid available.

Grants

Many need-based grants exist to help with the cost of a Davidson education including those from Davidson College, the federal government and the state of North Carolina.

Scholarships

Through the generosity of our alumni and friends, we are pleased to be able to offer a limited number of scholarship awards.

Student Employment

If financially eligible, students may be awarded a part-time job (typically 10 hours of work per week) on campus or with a local nonprofit community agency.

Loans

Our need-based financial aid packages do not include a loan component. Students and parents have the option of borrowing educational loans as a matter of personal choice, to help cover some or all of the assessed family contribution.

Whether you are studying off campus today, next semester, or next year, the Financial Aid Office is happy to answer your questions about financial aid for off-campus study.

Outside Scholarships & Resources

Many local, regional, and national organizations sponsor scholarship programs for college students. Students must report all outside scholarships and resources to the Financial Aid Office.
