Demonstrated Interest
We believe in the value of personal and direct engagement to help you get to know the community you are seeking to join, which is why our team looks at demonstrated interest in our admission process.
We know that students gather information for their college search through websites, guidebooks, social media, publications, and other avenues. While those can be great for getting basic information, we believe in the value of personal and direct engagement.
What is Demonstrated Interest?
Demonstrated interest is a term used by colleges and universities to understand your interest in attending the school you are applying to. Meaningful connections with our community demonstrate that you understand how Davidson would be a good fit for you and you a good fit for us.
We provide many opportunities to help prospective students get to know the Davidson community well. Students are not required to do any of these in order to be admitted, and we appreciate there may be limited opportunities to do some, but we do monitor how students have engaged with us in order to understand how they have learned about the Davidson community they are seeking to join.
The students we admit, and who end up enrolling, have usually done at least some of the following:
Type of Connection |
Examples |
On-Campus | Campus Tour, Information Session, Campus Programs (Access Davidson, Discover Davidson, etc.) |
In-Person & In Your Area | High School Visits, Coffee with Your Admission Counselor, College Fairs |
Virtual | Information Session, Virtual Guided Tour, Chat with a Wildcat, Admission Intensives |
At Your Leisure | Self-Guided Tours, Emails to Admission Ambassadors and Counselors |
We encourage you to take advantage of these offerings and more.
